I have an excellent condition ASUS Xonar Essence legacy PCI sound card (not the current PCI-e standard) which supports up to 24-bit/192 Khz bitstreams.

I've used it in a no-pet, non-smoking home for the past 5 years or so. I've had absolutely ZERO problems installing the card or using it during this time.
This is a great option if you need HiFi sound for an older 'legacy motherboard that doesn't use the latest PCI-e standards.
