VOX Music Player Launches Qobuz Integration

Yes! I've been waiting for this for seemingly ever. I wrote about the VOX player in my personal streaming service articles here -

I IMG_3285.jpegabsolutely love VOX because it stores my entire multi-terabyte library in the cloud and I can stream it anywhere with an internet connection. Now, the people at Vox have enabled Qobuz. This enables users to flip between their own content and streaming content almost seamlessly. It only requires a couple finger taps.

I've been using it since I discovered the updated app last night. So far it's a great version 1.0 integration. Not perfect, but I'll take it. There is no official offline capability, but I discovered a way, that I won't discuss, to offline CD quality tracks. I was assured this will be removed shortly :~)

For more information about VOX and why I preferred it over other apps, check out the article linked above. Or, just download the app and give it a spin. It's really nice.

Let me get this straight. For the 5 dollar/monthly fee we have unlimited cloud storage of all the music we choose to be synchronized?

Do you get the Qobuz integration only with the subscription based VOX premium or also with the free VOX player?

    Thanks

Not sure, but I also don't see the sense in using Qobuz within VOX if you don't also use VOX for your own music, which requires the premium.

Thanks for the news. Will give it a try.

seems development are taking a while with VOX and the Qobuz integration is not full (only favorites ?).

The deal breaker for me is the unlimited storage and the capacity to download back to local the library. But I understand that the download is not preserving the structure of the folders in your local library…let’s see.

Perhaps also a good push for le to move I’m a pc to a Mac mini :-)

To get to other stuff you have to use the search.

Missing are the Qobuz recommendations like the main screen of the Qobuz app.

I have been trying out the Vox IOS app with my existing Qobuz account and encountered a problem which, as it stands, constitutes a deal breaker for me.

I started to play a classical disc from my Qobuz favourites and realised pretty quickly that the tracks are out of order. I then tried a few others and had the same experience. The albums were:

Maxwell Quartet - 2 releases of Haydn string quartets

Danish String Quartet - Prism III

Barnabas Ketelman and Nicolas Altstaedt - a disc of Kodaly and Dvorak chamber works

Presumably this is a database-wide issue so far as classical music is concerned.

I suspect the problem has something to do with one track works appearing on discs largely composed of multi-track works. For example, on the Maxwell Quartet recordings the Scottish folk pieces which should play before, between and after the quartets are all grouped together at the beginning.

I have contacted Vox about this.

Yep.  Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I've had the "unlimited cloud storage" rug pulled out from under me a couple of times in the past.  It would be interesting to understand their long-term business model / strategy.  Regardless, I'd like to see this service integrated with Roon so you could keep your local library sync'd with the "VOX Music Cloud" and support mobile streaming via Roon.
