I have been enjoying Qobuz (mostly via Roon) for a few weeks now and love it.

When is Qobuz supposed to move out of "beta", and what does that mean?

They officially haven't said, but we can infer from a post by a Qobuz rep in another thread that the beta may continue for at least a couple more months, as he said it would take that long to do enough agreements with labels to get the catalog about where they want it.

I received a welcome message about 10 days after signing up.

It sure looks like they are going to charge my credit card after 30 days even if it's still in beta!

I think they will. I'm happy to pay it though. Studio only, and maybe in six months if I still like the service I'll pay for a year of Studio to get two months free.

Whether using the web player or app try clicking on your user name in upper right and then under "music playing" set the maximum resolution to 24/192, also go into Windows sound settings and set to 24/192. Should help.

Thanks. I'll check that, but in the meantime, the web player is working and playing 192 files. For some reason, the driver for the DAC in my McMA9000 disappeared! After numerous uninstalls/re-installs/reboots, it's back! The Windows app keeps freezing, though.

On an unrelated topic, is there a limit to the number of tracks in a playlist? One of mine has 997 and I can't add any more.

Oh wait, scratch my last answer, apparently they did officially say something! "According to Qobuz Chief Hi-Res Music Evangelist David Solomon the launch date is February 14, 2019– Valentine’s Day!"  http://www.audiophilia.com/reviews/2019/1/29/qobuz  Silly me, listening to the product staff instead of marketing. 🙂

Can anyone verify if Qobuz carries the bands Metallica or Tool in their catalog?  These are the 2 main bands that Tidal doesn't cover for me.

@ShawnC Tool’s music is not available digitally for anyone at this time. You can’t even buy it as a download as far as I know. Metallica controls it’s own rights in the USA and we are working on getting them into Qobuz.

Yes, very foolish of you to believe the people who are doing the work above and beyond the marketers. Jeez...

My question is: when do we expect to have a more or less complete set of music on Qobuz. I think I will go with the reps answer instead.

I ask because prior to cancelling Tidal, I would like to do a final map of albums.

Yes, how foolish of me. 🙂 Someone doing the work estimated it would take a couple more months to expand the catalog to where they'd be comfortable, so I recommend keeping your Tidal subscription for at least one more month after the Qobuz launch.
