JPLAY for iOS Is Now Available

Hi Guys, just a quick update. The UPnP control point app I've been using for seemingly ever, is now available in the App Store! I love this app and vow to never install mconnect on my iPhone or iPad again :~)

I know @Marcin_gps and his team have been working to perfect the app for a long time. I'me very happy to see this come to fruition.

The app is well worth the $49.99 /yr price.

    Much more to come.

    App Store link - https://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=1608773457

It’s clear this app isn’t for you. I use it via WiFi all the time and it works perfectly.

Fair enough, but I must have misunderstood you. I thought you were advocating for wired use rather than wireless.

I would appreciate your findinngs/comments on the following 2 issues:

    1) gapless playback

whatever option I use in settings , I cannot play gapless. Either I have a stop between each track (gapless unchecked) or I have a short stop just before the end of a track, resumes by finishing the track and then playing gapless the following track (gapless checked).
    2) I am still confused about the Play & Add to Queue buttons on the Album screen.

What are the preferred ‘default queue’ settings for immediately play the album when I push the Play button?

This used to work great for me, but something changed. I have some gapless issues as well.

Last time I tested (5-6 months ago) Audirvana shows your local library seperately from your Qobuz favorites.

I.e. albums from 1 artist are not available in 1 integrated view.

You have the choice. You can select the separate views, or plug the artist's name into the search field and see both together. (Icons are used in the combined view to show which albums and tracks are local and which are Qobuz.)

I haven't used JPlay, but have no doubt the new remote is a very welcome thing for users of the product.

The app on my phone recognized my Lumin immediately.

So Lumin owners can try their phone to test drive the app.

This is more a future feature request.  Could the app see other JPlay instances as a renderer on a local network?  This does not seem to be an option yet.  It could be useful in secondary systems.  With an iPhone, iPad, camera connection kit, and a dongle dac, the phone could remote control the tablet which - as renderer - could output to the mobile dac.  A Raspberry Pi can provide sever duties,

Hello, based on the discussion here, I tried the Lumin app yesterday. Yes, it is functional and better graphically processed, stable. It doesn't provide much more than metadata. BUT ... and now I don't want to start a flame ... sonically, I don't like it at all, the sound has shrunk into the space between the speakers and small details have disappeared (for example, cymbal fades, breaths, etc.). I would like to purchase the JPLAY iOS application, with the understanding that its functionality will be developed.

I really cannot understand how a upnp control point can get better or worse SQ.

They are remote commands that send an http link to the renderer which in turn requires the file from the server, no music file goes through the control point at all.

Ahh, this is how exactly Qobuz sounds when I use the Lumin app on a Lumin U1, local files are good.

Back at home tonight and no Lumin detected, everything else detected, Yamaha RT-3080 receiver, Sony HT-7000 soundbar, Ruark Radio and the Jriver engine connections like local DACs.

Extraordinary, thanks for the tip. Pity I don't have an iPhone to test. Have an older iPad, charging that now. When the network button is tapped, the search doesn't try long enough, it tries for only a few seconds, then gives up.

For instance, when freshly installed, there's the iPad, Yamaha RX-A3080, and Ruark Radio. Refresh again, the Yamaha receiver vanishes, yet the Radio and ipad remain. Jriver was switched on and the Zone is the Lumin, which Jplay detects OK. Once the library is catalogued will try to play through the Jriver engine, see what happens.

Here is what it looks like in JPLAY/ MinimServer in my system.

I could finally find that page (the second one) that is the album detail and there the items are clickable, but it’s not the same in the track detail where nothing is clickable. It would be ergonomically better to have clickable links in the track details page.

@Marcin_gps my Logitech Media Server and Squeezelite Player show in Mconnect and allow me to use them but they don't show in Jplay? Not sure if this is by design or a possible bug? I would like to use them with Jplay since this is part of my standard software setup. Thanks

Friends, do any of you have any idea why if I run the JPLAY iOS app from an iPad (6th generation, iOS15.7) the connection with the renderer constantly crashes and I have to restart the audioPC, while when I run the JPLAY iOS app on the iPhone 11 there are no crashes connection with the renderer? The settings of the JPLAY iOS app are the same on both iPad and iPhone. Thanks for any thoughts

Only UPnP/DLNA media servers and renderers are supported. LMS is not UPnP/DLNA capable.

Pavel, like I wrote in the PM, please close other 'streaming' apps and try again. You can enable logs and when the app crashes, please send the log via email. Thanks

    Best regards,
    Marcin

Please try rerstarting iPad and refresh for audio outputs then.

The app behaves exactly the same on iPhone and iPad when it comes to discovering devices in the network. If it doesn't search on iPad for someone then I'd look at killing other 'streaming' apps on iPad such as YouTube, netflix, tidal and then searching for audio outputs again.

With a plug-in, it is.  JPlay is not discovering it on my network, either.

App on my iPad still can’t find my Lumin. All apps killed, rebooted iPad still can’t find my X1. Considering that some folks have no issue with app finding their Lumin streamer and others do would seem to indicate there may be something unique with their network setup? Any other control app I have has no problem finding the X1 i.e. Roon, Linn, Lumin app. Log just shows discovery of my modem/router and minimserver. Plays fine on my iPad, just won’t connect to X1.

Do you use Bubble for the Linn app to find the Lumin X1?

    Hi Marcin,

Restarted ipad without the home button kind, only app open is JPLAY. Same detection,  same three devices,  another adds another drops off, don't have Netflix,  YouTube etc. active on any other pc or the ipad.

    Hi

After initial startup screen, if you continue to Settings screen, is your Lumim not shown.

On an iPhone, I had only 2 devices, but in settings I had all expected 4.

No. Linn app finds my X1 no problem. Bubble on my Android finds the X1 without issue as well. Lumin app always works, it’s just UI I’m not thrilled about. But it’s free. Can’t complain there.

This is clearly still in beta stage at best. Marcin is getting what he should regard as invaluable feedback. Were I him, I'd work out the kinks and extend the trial to at least 60 days.

    Only shows up three.

Missing, Sony soundbar, Sony TV, Two BD players....and the Lumin U1. In the meantime, using Audirvana Origin, picks the Lumin up right away. I try and make sure JPLAY and Audirvana are not on at the same time, since they both can output to the Lumin, which could be a problem.
