That SoTM sM200 looks really interesting... did you take any notes on it you can share? Or has it been discussed here already and I just missed it? :)

I am glad to see Ed Meitner sitting on those amps so that if I decide to buy them, when my wife throws me out of the house I can also use them as a bed.

It's an old dCS component that supported 24/192 long before most manufacturers. Kind of cool to see the old stuff once in awhile.

Agree, very interesting design. Very expensive. I talked to them for awhile about the products. I get the feeling that the products are still prototypes and it may be awhile.

    I really don't get it!

I see all these super expensive and powerful amps all powering speakers with passive X-overs.

That's like having sex with the most sexy woman on earth through a keyhole.

Are all these people f***ing stupid or am I missing something?

    Pardon my french :-/

I asked a similar, but worded much differently, question when I visited Magico in December. The answer I received was there's no free lunch. The problems associated with active xo or active speakers don't always outweigh the traditional passive design. Also, the big amp + passive speaker combo is what sells.

True, it depends on how well the concept is implemented. But the potencial to make it right is much higher with active xo's...

Also True, the big speaker and amps...the fetishistic side of Hi-Fi and Audiophilia...

Missing something :-D Well, I'm willing to believe that there's great potential if done right. Although another reason may be vinyl's resurgence--if you want a all analog chain, active isn't an option (unless I'm misunderstanding smth).

That small Aurender X100s looks really nice. This is the first time I've had any thought of replacing the Mac Mini.

Do you mean the sMS-2000? That's is the new VortexBox based music ripper/server from SoTM. It's not on the market yet but the prototypes are amazing!

That's probably it Andrew - I only saw it in one of the pictures. It immediately caught my interest. ;)
