In the pipeline

Part-Time Audiophile

Got some new stuff coming in, which is always fun.

First up, some King Rex stuff. A UD384 w/ U-Power pack. Christing at King Rex is really excited about this product and thought I should take a look. Who am I to say no to that?

Next, Burson is sending me their new head-amp/DAC combo, the HA-160DS. I don't have a good head amp (other than the one that drives my Stax, but that's not exactly non-Stax friendly), so this is awesome. If this works out, I'm thinking "new desktop rig".

Light Harmonic is supposed to be sending me a Davinci DAC at some point in the next few weeks. Expensive, awesome, 384Hz and all that -- and some great Darth Helmet aesthetics.

On the speaker front, I've put the order in for some Joseph Audio speakers. I'm replacing "old" my Totem Model 1 Signature speakers here with front-ported speakers. Nothing wrong with the Totems, but the new cabinet I'm forced to put them in doesn't really play well with rear-ported speakers, so, trying something new out here.

Next week should also see delivery of my TW Acustic Raven AC-3. I'm so excited, I'm salivating as I write this. This will come with a Raven tonearm, a Thoress/Raven phono pre and an Ortofon Windfeld cartridge.

At about the same time (God willing and the creek don't rise), AudiAV will be shipping me the final bits on my AudiAV Zirconia rack. I'm kinda hoping one bit in particular (the turntable platform) shows up before the TW Acustic shipment, but I'm not holding my breath.

BTW, the Berkeley Alpha Series 2 DAC and Alpha USB are breaking in nicely. I have about 200+ hours on them so far and I can comfortably report that the sound quality is the most liquid and extended that I've ever heard on my home rig. Given what's been through here lately, this is a pretty strong statement, but I'll stand by it. Outstanding.
