Happiness is an electronics repair man two blocks away

I had noticed a small storefront up the street about two blocks from where I live. I decided to drop in and chat with the guy.   I met Sasa Malkoc, a Bosnian man who has lived here in Charlotte for over 20 years, and I could tell by the stuff stacked floor to ceiling, that I had found "The Man" when it comes electronics repairs.   I told him of my poor Yamaha RX-350 and it's scratchy right channel, and he said, "No problem, I can fix it better than New" I asked the price, because being th

Initial review of iFi nano iDSD LE--"Clearly better than the Modi2, no comparison"

The iFi nano iDSD LE arrived Thursday, and my initial impression is that the sound stage is more expansive and the loudspeakers disappear.   When I close my eyes, I see the musicians in their places on stage. The Music is magical, and once again, I am hearing these recordings for the First Time, despite listening to the same passages for years. My standard reference recordings, "Mussorgsky: Pictures At An Exhibition" by Herbert von Karajan, Berliner Philharmoniker, Pink Floyd's "Dark Side

At $129, this device is a MUST HAVE addition to any "Computer Audiophile on the Cheap*" home stereo system.

The best way I can describe it goes something like this.   I read about 24/96 recordings, and noticed that they were huge compared to FLAC files, freely traded on the Internet from repositories at bt.etree.org.   I saw an ad for the Dragonfly by Audioquest, version 1.2, and it was much better than the original version, and it cost $150. In my world, $150 is an amount that would take four months of saving a little each month. That is what is called a "Dream".   Then I noticed that a

MC-0.5 and Vintage harman/kardon hk330i create Magic with "Pictures..."

REQUIEM FOR AN RX-350   For years, my Yamaha RX-350 has served faithfully. Tonight, after years of abuse and wear and tear, the right channel amplification stage finally went to Chip Heaven...   So the harman/kardon hk330i is back on-line, providing the amplification for my system. We will see how long the "vintage" capacitors like playing at full power, 24/7/365.   These vintage electronics were well built, as competitive manufacturers put money into 2 ch. Stereo.   Then CDs came alo

MC-0.5 is a "must have" accesory to any system

The MC-0.5   Stereotimes' most wanted component, The MC-0.5 is a magnetic conduction device. Covered under the connecter is a series of patented products. This unique device simply plugs into the wall to apply magnetic conduction to incoming electricity. The MC-0.5, once plugged into an extra outlet, delivers a dramatically cleaner, clearer music signal with better dynamics, realism and musicality. It is both more detailed as well as more relaxed-sounding at the same time. Altho
